Understanding risk

Understand what changes when fictional funds become real funds.

Hypothetical results on historical data, net of estimated costs. They describe the past of a rule and promise nothing.

Paper: fictional money in Northtick

Paper positions use market prices and a fictional balance. No broker order is sent. Results may differ from actual trading.

Demo: fictional money at the broker

Demo sends orders to a broker demo account. It does not put real funds at risk, but execution may differ from a real account.

Real: your money is at risk

Live mode sends orders to a real broker account. Leverage can magnify losses. Orders, fees, gaps and slippage can cause losses beyond the stop estimate.

A stop and target are mandatory

The robot requires a stop and target before an order. A stop is a planned exit, not a guaranteed price. Markets may gap past it.

Loss limits and the kill switch

The robot checks your daily and weekly loss limits, open-position limits and risk budgets before new orders. The kill switch blocks new orders and requests position closure on the next robot run, not instantly. Broker outages may delay closure.

Suggestions, not instructions

A suggestion is generated mechanically from your activated rules. You decide whether to act. Northtick does not assess your personal financial circumstances.
